The United States Military Academy, founded on March 16, 1802, is a four-year college that builds, educates, trains, and inspires the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation. West Point graduates earn Bachelor of Science degrees and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Army.
"To build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation."
Our mission is to “build, educate, train, and inspire” leaders of character. Through this mission, we are charged with forging and developing the next generation of officers to lead the United States Army’s greatest strength and most important weapon system — its Soldiers — to fight and win on the 21st-century battlefield.
We are not a college, a university, or a campus…we’re so much more than that. We are THE United States Military Academy - a living, breathing leadership laboratory that prepares young men and women to become leaders of character for the Army and our Nation.
West Point is an integral part of American history and is steeped in tradition. Every college has its own culture and traditions, but with more than 200 years of American and military history and West Point's time-honored traditions, the U.S. Military Academy is unlike any other college.
